Interview with bassist Rob de Luca of Spread Eagle/Of Earth/UFO

Rob De Luca is an American bassist/backing vocalist currently playing in UFO and is a founding member of Spread Eagle and Of Earth.Rob has also toured and/or recorded in: the Sebastian Bach band (direct support for Guns n' Roses on their "2006-2012 Chinese Democracy World Tours"). Rob has recorded for Grammy winning "Producer Of The Year"Steve Lillywhite, and for Grammy winning "Album Of The Year" engineer Tom Camuso.

As you describe yourself? Hopeful, caring, relentless.

Rob, what are your most recently completed projects and what are you currently working on?
So many! I'm releasing the second OF EARTH record and videos. Touring with UFO and Spread Eagle. Forming an entertainment artist management company. Writing the third OF EARTH record.

Who are your main musical and bass influences?
Beatles, Pink Floyd, U2... Unfortunately I haven't studied many bassists. I love Duff McKagen's playing though.

How did you become a bassist? What inspired you to learn?
I was playing guitar and some friends needed a bassist, so I switched. That group eventually evolved into Spread Eagle.

Up to this point in your career, what has been your most memorable moment?
1) Touring with Guns N' Roses in Canada, playing bass in BOTH supporting bands (Helmet and Sebastian Bach). 2) Touring South America as direct support for Guns N' Roses in the Bach band.

What are your next projects?

The third OF EARTH record. UFO USA tour. Spread Eagle USA tour.
