Interview with Jay Schellen, American drummer who is best known as a member of the hard-rock band Hurricane. Schellen has also worked and currently working with a number of other heavy rock and progressive rock bands, including with Asia, and several members of Yes.

As you describe yourself ? Tough, hard working, hard playing, hard lovin, can't get enough of life.
 
Jay, what are your most recently completed projects and what are you currently working on?
Still performing 5, nights a week in Vegas at the LVH in John Payne's" Raiding the Rock Vault",we are finishing the new ASIA Americana record and shooting videos for it. I'm also recording the new Firewolfe record, this is our second release.

How did you join Asia Featuring Jonh Payne? and Raiding The Rock Vault?
I was working with Billy Sherwood (YES) and John And Geoff stopped by, we worked on some songs and jammed together and the rest is history.

With the band "Hurricane", What are your memories of that time?
Great creativity, fun touring, great players-best friends, great producers, unbelievable girls, horrible record label.

What has been the most exciting moment of your career thus far?
I have always loved the band YES and am friends and performed with many of the guys, recently Jon Anderson came to Vegas to be a guest in our show, that was exciting!

Who are some of your biggest musical influence?
Drums: John Bonham, Billy Cobham, Lenny White, Phil Collins, Alan White, Music: YS Bach, Phil lynott, Lennon / McCartney.

What was your first band?
Ritual

Who is your favorite drummer?
Don't have just one, same as above, this week, Ian Paice.

What are your next projects?
Lots more "Raiding the Rock Vault" and new ASIA releases to come.
